Our acquisition of the ColorFace® system from French manufacturer Newtone® in 2019 was a step further into the field of clinical photography for us. The successful application of this system in our studies has encouraged us to further expand our partnership with Newtone®. Our customers benefit from additional claim support possibilities and a greater method selection.

One of our focus topics has long been the performance of clinical studies where photographs are provided as documentation or as critical parameters. With our photography laboratory (USR-CliP) and other in-house developments, we set the benchmark in this field in terms of standardization and reproducibility.

Newtone®, a specialist in the production of photography systems and in the analysis of these images, provides us with valuable support in this area. Alongside the expanded partnership, we would also like to inform you about how Newtone® systems supplement proderm® systems and offer their own benefits.

There are two features that we wish to highlight in this context: ‘AverageFace’ and ‘ColorMapping’. AverageFace is used to create an average facial image derived from all of the facial photographs taken of study participants. This image is then representative of the study collective before and after application of the product. The result is a refined image that can be used for marketing your product without any GDPR restrictions.
Because AverageFace can be used to represent average changes over time, such as overall reductions in rosacea-induced skin rash, Newtone® also enables selected changes from a single test subject to be mapped to the AverageFace.

ColorMapping is a model that visualizes cosmetic results – in 2D or 3D as needed – by mapping individual measurement points to defined color values. This makes the system also superbly suitable for marketing your product. Various options are available for the modelling of the mapping, and it is also possible to combine them with the ‘AverageFace’.

In both cases, the focus is on ‘facial photography’. The table below shows the systems that we use to study the parameters listed:

  • Acne
  • Age Spots (Melasma)
  • Attractiveness
  • Blackheads
  • Cleaning Power
  • Color

  • SkinCam – Home-in-use Bildgebungstechnik
  • EyelashCam – In vivo Bildgebung von Augenwimpern und -konturen
  • DigiCam – Bildaufnahmen der Hände

The system that will be used for your study will depend on the general conditions of the project and your marketing strategy. You can discuss relevant details beforehand with our Customer Relations & Sales team.
