Local tolerance is of utmost importance for all topically applied products no matter whether pharmaceutical, medical device, cosmetic or consumer product. Too often it comes into focus only when it is too late, i.e. when the consumer complains about intolerance reactions. In order to avoid negative product experiences, manufacturers must make sure that their product in question is safe. This seminar was created to answer the most important questions on the subject of local tolerance. At the beginning of the three-day event, in vivo designs are presented in the proderm laboratories. On Day 2 dermatological basics will be taught and the legal framework will be discussed. Subsequently, the topics ’skin irritation‘ and ’skin allergies‘ are discussed in detail.  Exchange and networking can be intensified at the end of the second day during the dinner together. The third day consists predominantly of the presentation of non-clinical and in vivo concepts for assessing local tolerance.

Highlights

  • Dermatologic basics and the spectrum of local tolerance
  • Legal requirements and the needs of safety assessors
  • In silico and in vitro approaches for evaluating local tolerance
  • Clinical testing methodology for basic evaluation of local tolerance and advanced skin tolerance claims
